El domingo pasado asist\u00ed a misa en la catedral de San Patricio, luego procesion\u00e9 con el Sant\u00edsimo Sacramento hasta la iglesia de San Pedro, en Wall Street, y finalmente hasta el puente de Brooklyn. Toda la experiencia me hizo sentir orgulloso de ser cat\u00f3lico y de dar testimonio f\u00edsico, junto con otros 1000 cat\u00f3licos, de que Jes\u00fas es nuestro Se\u00f1or. Tambi\u00e9n pude observar e interiorizar la belleza de esas dos iglesias.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Sentado en San Patricio, con los enormes arcos apuntando al cielo, docenas de estatuas y vidrieras, y el impresionante baldaquino dorado suspendido sobre el altar, sent\u00ed la presencia de Dios en la belleza y extravagancia de aquel famoso edificio. De nuevo en San Pedro, me sobrecogieron su m\u00e1rmol, sus pinturas y su tabern\u00e1culo. Me acord\u00e9 de una reflexi\u00f3n de 33 d\u00edas para la gloria eucar\u00edstica <\/em>donde el autor dec\u00eda: \"Viaje a cualquier parte del mundo y pida que le lleven al edificio m\u00e1s bonito de la zona. La mayor\u00eda de las veces le llevar\u00e1n a una iglesia cat\u00f3lica. \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 los cat\u00f3licos han construido tantas iglesias hermosas en todos los siglos y en todo el mundo? Se lo aseguro: no es por el arte o la arquitectura. No es por el legado o el orgullo personal. Es porque creemos que Jes\u00fas est\u00e1 realmente presente en la Eucarist\u00eda\".<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Eso lo explica todo, \u00bfverdad? La diferencia entre los edificios de las iglesias cat\u00f3licas y la mayor\u00eda de las protestantes. La mayor\u00eda de las iglesias protestantes est\u00e1n construidas para los fieles; las iglesias cat\u00f3licas est\u00e1n construidas para Jes\u00fas. El altar y el tabern\u00e1culo son el punto central que nos recuerda la presencia de Jes\u00fas. Las ventanas, las estatuas, los candelabros, la arquitectura en general son dise\u00f1ados por artistas para hacer su casa merecidamente magn\u00edfica. Son casas literalmente construidas para un Rey porque Jes\u00fas en la Eucarist\u00eda vive en cada una de ellas en sus sagrarios. Es un recordatorio importante para todos nosotros: cuando entramos en una Iglesia cat\u00f3lica, estamos entrando en la casa de Jes\u00fas, no en la nuestra, y \u00c9l est\u00e1 presente. Mostremos el m\u00e1ximo respeto haciendo una genuflexi\u00f3n ante Jes\u00fas en el sagrario cuando entremos y abandonemos nuestros asientos, inclin\u00e1ndonos ante el altar cuando crucemos por delante de \u00e9l y evitando largas conversaciones en los bancos. Nuestras iglesias son m\u00e1s que hermosos edificios, son los Santos Hogares de Jes\u00fas.<\/p>
