It may be hard to believe, but Lent is almost here. Seems like only yesterday we were ringing in the New Year. I hope this has been a successful year for your resolutions, but either way, I want to encourage you to make prayerful resolutions for Lent this year. By living those six weeks a bit differently, with some discipline and sacrifice, we approach Easter with greater aware- ness and appreciation for Jesus’ great love for us.
I’ll never forget when my eldest son graduated from college y started his first job at a construction site, y one de his colleagues asked him what he fue going a do for Lent. It caught him off-guard, so he responded, “I don’t know. maybe dé up chocolate.” El man responded, “What son you, seven?” That comment humbled him y certainly made me laugh. But it is true; we need to choose Lenten resolutions that are age-appropriate and, as adults, spiritually enriching.
Nosotros have a lot de great opportunities at St. Lawrence y Sacred Heart a make 2024 your best Cuaresma ever. Nosotros have two programs eso I am especially happy a ser offering, y I would like a encourage you a join one de them:
No Greater Love is a book y video series eso will guide you through el last hours de Jesus’ life y open your eyes to details de Christ’s Passion eso you fuimos never taught before. It is fascinating! This 5-week programa will lead you a Holy Week and Pascua con an enriched appreciation de Jesus’ great love for you. Join us. I promise you will ser glad you did.
In this year de Eucharistic Renewal, a great Lenten devotion would ser a participate in 33 Days a Eucharistic Glory. It includes el book y daily email reflections by Matthew Kelly, weekly discussions, y el opportunity a consecrate yourself to Jesús in el Eucaristía at el end. Nosotros have three discussion group options: Tuesday AM y Wednesday PM at St. Lawrence y Viernes PM at Sacred Heart.
Nosotros celebrate el Epiphany y son impressed by el regalos de el Three Kings. For Cuaresma dé Jesús an even more valuable gift – el gift de your time, dedicated a knowing Him better.
Scripture: Read Ephesians 1:3-4. What stands out?
