This Gospel in Mark starts off with the question, What do we do with people who speak in the name of Christ but not in our church? Jesus says, leave them alone. These are allies —be open to them. The second point in this reading, are of those not to scandalize these little ones or be thrown into hell. We need to be good examples to those still growing in their faith. The third point, pluck out your eye or cut off your hand–Jesus is asking us to avoid sin and with humility to be honest with ourselves and God to avoid the sin.
