In the gospel of John, Jesus uses the metaphor of the vine and the branches. He uses this to show the relationship between himself and those in the church. We cut ourselves off sometimes. We can also be in the church but dead. The Father will prune the branches and make them stronger and it will produce more fruit. This is so we draw close to Christ. Fr.
