First Holy Communion day filled with love & joy
by Savannah Defelice & Janine Kristensen
“God blessed our first holy communicants and their families with a beautiful day on Saturday, May 4th, 2024. The children arrived dressed in their finest: the girls in their beautiful white dresses and veils and the boys in their freshly pressed suits.
They all listened so attentively to Father Hernandez who reminded them that this was such a special day for them and that they would go on receiving Jesus every Sunday for the rest of their lives. He had a receptive crowd repeat after him as he said, “God is good all the time, all the time God is good.”
All the children were careful to bow and receive Jesus reverently as they each took their turn in front of Father Gill. Afterward, they proceeded out of the church with their prayer hands pointing up to Jesus, and they gathered to take a group photo in front of the church.
We are so grateful to all the parents who supported their children in receiving this blessed sacrament and to all of our 2nd-grade catechists who gave their time so selflessly to prepare the children. We are grateful to the ushers for helping seat our families and thanks to Denise Bassett and the choir for the beautiful music.
